Nutrien has renewed its commitment to improving educational outcomes and youth skill building by donating $150,000 to support local Junior Achievement programs and mentoring for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in Ascension and Iberville schools near its Geismar, LA nitrogen facility.

Nutrien representatives were on hand to celebrate the donation during a check presentation ceremony, alongside local school leaders and elected officials. The donation will be implemented over three years to support the initiative.

After extensive consultation with Junior Achievement, Nutrien’s donation is designed to provide local students with multiple opportunities to practice work-readiness, business, and personal finance skills, led by business mentors in the classroom.

“Nutrien is proud to be a long-standing community partner that creates a positive impact in the areas where we live and work. Our purpose is Feeding the Future, but that extends beyond helping growers feed the world’s growing population,” says Richard Holder, General Manager of Nutrien’s Geismar nitrogen facility. “Our approach includes feeding students’ minds to prepare them for an exciting future in the workforce, and we are pleased to continue our partnership with Junior Achievement in bringing that to life through this investment.”

“We are grateful for Nutrien’s investment towards providing learning experiences that promote economic empowerment and opportunities to learn from business mentors. Junior Achievement’s purpose is to provide young people with opportunities to build the skillsets and mindsets for economic success, and partners like Nutrien help connect the classroom to students’ real lives in meaningful ways,” says Paula Dawson, President of Junior Achievement of Greater Baton Rouge.
