Nutrien Trinidad Highlighted at Canada - CARICOM Summit in Ottawa
Trevor Williams, EVP & President Nitrogen & Phosphate, showcased Nutrien’s presence in Trinidad at the Canada-CARICOM Summit on October 19 in Ottawa, where he was one of seven Canadian business leaders to participate in a trade and investment roundtable with Presidents and Prime Ministers from 14 countries. The Summit, a first, was chaired by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
During his remarks, Trevor discussed Nutrien and Canada’s regional investments, future plans for Nutrien Trinidad, and our commitment to sustainable nitrogen and agricultural production. Trevor met with Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Keith Rowley to discuss the future development of Nutrien’s investments in the country and had additional bilateral engagements with Guyanese President Irfaan Ali and Prime Minister Trudeau. The Summit opened with an event hosted by the Canadian Prime Minister, attended by dignitaries and celebrities from the Canadian-Caribbean community.
Nutrien Trinidad represents more than a quarter of Nutrien’s nameplate ammonia production capacity and is strategically located to serve markets in North and South America, Europe, and Africa. The company envisages significant further investment in sustaining capital in Trinidad where it has operated at Point Lisas since 1998 and employs 750 people.
