Right to foods for a better life and a better future
The theme for this year’s World Food Day is ‘Right to foods for a better life and a better future’, and at Nutrien our ability to impact this concept is at the very heart of our purpose, Feeding the Future.
The theme underlines the need for a variety of nutritious, affordable, accessible and safe foods to achieve food security and healthy diets for all. Food security is near and dear for us, as an area we can meaningfully impact through our business, including the investments we make in communities where we live and work.
Given the complexity of this issue, we have developed partnerships with organizations that address food solutions on several different levels:
Programs and initiatives that educate and empower young people about food security

Programs and initiatives that support people within communities to be able to grow nutritious food

Programs and initiatives that provide nutritious food to the people who need it
Our community investment impact framework ensures that we are making a direct impact on food security in a variety of ways, tackling this incredible challenge from many angles. Just a few of our food related investments, contributing to a better life and a better future, include: Trinidad model farm, Journey 2050 school program, FFA (Future Farmers of America), 4-H, Saskatoon Public Schools Nutrition Program,I Can for Kids, and the Saskatoon Food bank and Learning Centre
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that one in 11 people, 2.33 billion[i], face either moderate or severe food insecurity. We are honored to work alongside our communities to do our part in support of addressing global food security, today and every day.
