Aman Kaur-Shaik uses her roots to help highlight Nutrien’s values

For someone who is looked at as a global role model, Aman Kaur-Shaik is quick to point out the people that inspire her.

“Everybody is my mentor because I believe everyone has something to teach us,” Aman explained.

She started learning from a young age growing up in India, it was her mother’s strength that set her on her path.

“If she wasn’t strong enough, I don’t know if I would be here on the world stage,” Aman explained.”

Instead, Aman joined the rest of the women in her family and focused on education which launched her career. She has spent the last 14 years with Nutrien all over the world, today she is based in Australia and is the Director of Global HR Strategy and Analytics.

“I develop and oversee the HR information systems strategy. MyHR, Human Capital Management system is designed for to manage employee lifecycle transactions, facilitate employee development and retention, i.e., from pre day one when they apply for a job all the way to their retirement,” Aman said.

Her diverse global experience has equipped her to understand organizational cultures and individual backgrounds better, enhancing her ability to design systems for Nutrien.

“You must understand the culture of the company, the culture of a place like Saskatoon taught me so much. Sydney is a rat race life. If you see satisfaction on my face, I learned it from people of Saskatoon,” Aman said.

It also helps that her passion is people.

“We ask people to go underground, risk their life to dig dirt so we can get a bonus, and they are my mentors because they mentally prepare for the uncertainty, prepare for risks and hazards and be willing to make a decision in a split second,” Aman said.

She is quick to brag about the type of employees that call Nutrien home. With her help Nutrien is a finalist for the 2024 SAP Best Run Awards in Australia and New Zealand.

“I grew up on a farm and I understand how important it is for a farmer to get the right advice; the crop is like a baby to the farmer. That is the reason it is so noble to work for a company that cares about farmers. That is what I brag about,” Aman said.

As an expert in people analytics and HR data, Aman is regularly invited to speak and inspire other HR executives. Her style is so engaging that she has developed a worldwide reputation in the field as a keynote speaker.

“I started during the covid lockdowns, so everything was virtual but in 2022 I was at an in-person conference, and I asked who knows about Nutrien? Not a single hand went up and I was shocked, so I started doing it to make people more aware of Nutrien. I have represented Nutrien at 4 conferences this year. The two of them were panel discussions about artificial intelligence use cases in HR,” Aman explained.

Off the stage and out of the office Aman who is a mother to one son is passionate about inspiring women and girls to achieve their upmost potential.

“If the woman of the house is educated, they’re going to educate the whole family because they are the ones who are giving the values, whether it’s a girl or boy, they are the ones holding you accountable. That’s the reason the voice of a woman is so important not only for our girls but for our boys as well,” Aman explained.

And her voice is a loud supportive one for Nutrien.
