Seed Survivor Spreads Ag Knowledge Across Saskatchewan

With summer in North America now sadly behind us, we’re reminiscing about all the fun we had taking the Seed Survivor Mobile Classroom across Saskatchewan as part of its 2024 route.

Through May and June, Seed Survivor visited 30 schools in and around Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current and Prince Albert.

“In visiting those 30 schools, Seed Survivor interacted with more than155 fantastic teachers, 165 classrooms and nearly 2,750 amazing students,” explains Chloe Sprecker, Senior Advisor, Community Relations & Education at Nutrien. “Support from teachers and interest from students is the best way we can gauge the success of Seed Survivor, and we’re thrilled to continue receiving positive feedback about the value of this programming.” Of over 2,000 students surveyed, approximately 80% said they learned something new about where their food comes from through the mobile classroom visit.

We’re proud that this valuable youth agriculture education programming is delivered through a longstanding partnership with Ag in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC SK). Through this partnership, the touring Seed Survivor Mobile classrooms have visited 30,000 elementary students across Saskatchewan since 2013.

Collaborating with community partners who share our values allows us to make a positive and lasting impact. For 65 years, Nutrien has been part of the fabric of Saskatchewan, growing with the province and its people, and giving back to the communities where we live and work.

“In addition to the school visits, Seed Survivor was also present at a number of popular events across the province supported by AITC SK and Nutrien volunteers - Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan, Ag in Motion, National Indigenous Peoples Day at Wanuskewin Heritage Park, Nutrien Wonderhub’s 5th birthday bash, and we also sent a sunflower planting station to Rock Your Roots in Saskatoon,” Chloe shares. “So, as you can see, we really made the most of Seed Survivor’s time in our home province of Saskatchewan!”

Here's what teachers across Saskatchewan are saying about Seed Survivor:

“This is a great program for kids of all ages! It ties nicely into the Saskatchewan curriculum, and is a great opportunity for hands on, interactive learning!”

  • “Wow!!! Cannot say enough good things. 10/10!”
  • "Thank-you for bringing the Seed Survivor to our school, all the involved classes loved the hands-on games!"
