Nutrien Trinidad celebrates food security at IEAT Awards Ceremony

Empowering youth to build a sustainable future, one garden at a time.

Nutrien Trinidad is proud to lead and support IEAT 2024, a transformative initiative promoting food sustainability, culinary education, and agricultural innovation among local primary and secondary school students.

The IEAT program encourages a garden-to-table model, empowering students with hands-on farming skills and culinary acumen, enhancing their understanding of sustainable practices in real-world contexts.

Last year, over 70 schools participated in the garden category of the competition, which included the establishment of a kitchen garden, creation of an innovative product, and the creation of two or more value-added products.

In addition, 20 schools took part in the cook-off category of the competition, where students were provided with mystery ingredients to make their dishes from Nutrien Trinidad’s Model Farm, with emphasis placed on originality, creativity and the use of local produce.

The initiative culminated at the Model Farm on February 24th, 2025, with an official awards ceremony featuring the winners of the garden competition, as well as a cheque presentation to the Ministry of Education for the IEAT program, Nutrien’s partner in the initiative.
