Sowing success at Nutrien-sponsored CCA meeting in Mexico

At Nutrien, we’re committed to providing high-quality service and knowledge to our grower customers around the world to achieve our purpose of Feeding the Future. That’s why we’re proud to support the Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) program, which helps crop advisors and consultants build upon their experience and education as fertilizer experts.

“Proper nutrient management and sound agronomy provide a strong foundation for a great fertilizer program,” says Dr. Karl Wyant, Nutrien’s Director of Agronomy. “As the world’s largest fertilizer company, we understand that efficient use of our products requires the skills of trained experts at the farm. These experts help translate the latest in research and help growers implement the most effective fertilizer rates, types and application practices.”

The CCA credential was established in 1992 to provide a benchmark for practicing agronomy professionals in the United States. The program has since expanded to include Canada, India and, most recently, Mexico.

In May, Nutrien sponsored the annual National Meeting of CCA in Guadalajara, Mexico. This meeting served as a gathering point for the Mexico CCA chapter – 75 Certified Crop Advisors came together to earn Continuing Education hours, which are an annual requirement for maintaining the CCA credential. Events like this provide access to advanced agronomy education, and in return, help develop a diverse workforce that can make the most efficient fertilizer recommendations for growers.

Hear from the experts themselves about the importance of the program and national meeting in Mexico.

  • “Nutrien is proud to support the continuing education efforts of the CCA group in Mexico,” says Karl. “We believe that having a strong, science-based agronomic background leads to optimized results for both the grower and society at large. The Mexico CCA team is committed to training and developing the wealth of agronomic talent in Mexico, and we are pleased to have a strong relationship with this group.”
  • “We are grateful for the valuable sponsorship and support of Nutrien for the realization of our IV National Meeting of CCA,” says Lidia Sanchez, Operational Coordinator at Mexico CCA.
  • “Supporting agronomy in Mexico through the CCA program is crucial for enhancing agricultural productivity, sustainability and food security,” says Jossua Torres, International Sales Manager at Nutrien. “The CCA team in Mexico provides farmers with expert guidance to improve crop yields, soil health and resource efficiency. This not only boosts the agricultural sector’s economic viability, but also environmental conservation and the well-being of rural communities.”
  • “This experience of the National Meeting of the Mexico Chapter of the International CCA program allowed us to see each other and get to know each other more,” says Juan Carlos Salinas, Certified Crop Advisor. “We see that we can focus efforts on common goals, in addition to our own. In addition to updating on some technical topics, we also have the opportunity to start networks for both technical and business work.”
