Recognizing Achievements of Women in Saskatchewan

At Nutrien, we believe we’re better together. We’re creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels safe, has a sense of belonging, trusts one another and acts with integrity. To make this a reality, we are taking deliberate actions to make our man-dominated industry more welcoming for women.

One way we seek to support diversity and inclusivity in our industry is by investing in organizations and programs that support our current and future workforce. Within Nutrien, our Women in Non-Traditional Environments and Roles (WiNTER) employee resource group provides valuable counsel and recommendations to our leadership teams based on their lived experience.

“We have seen how the women in our WiNTER employee resource group inspire other women,” says Trevor Berg, Vice President of Potash Operations at Nutrien,” and so a natural extension of that is our support of the awards given to women in non-traditional roles through the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards in Saskatoon and Regina.”

In Regina, Nutrien was proud to sponsor the Women in Non-Traditional Roles award, which honors a woman or group of women who are breaking ground and displaying leadership in a role that is considered non-traditional, while making a difference in southern Saskatchewan and working to create opportunities for women in her chosen industry or field. In Saskatoon, Nutrien proudly sponsored the Women in the Trades Award, which honored women who have excelled in skilled trades industries and demonstrated excellence through achievements including innovation, leadership, mentoring and creating opportunities for women in their field, and/or overcoming barriers. Three attendees in Saskatoon share what participating in this event meant to them:

“It was an honour to be able to present the award for Women in Trades on behalf of Nutrien for the YWCA Women of Distinction awards,” says Lyndsay Stobbs, a senior project manager in Nutrien’s Mine Engineering – Allan Division, “it was incredibly uplifting and energizing to see all of the incredible women that were nominated and recipients of this year’s awards and all of the contribution they make the communities they are involved in.”

“I had an inspiring and memorable experience at the 2024 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards,” explains Sabrina Pethick, a senior mine planner in our Vanscoy potash operations. “Listening to the achievements and contributions of exceptional women in the community, and recognizing their hard work, dedication, and impact was truly empowering!”

“Listening to the impactful work of the outstanding nominees was a memorable experience shared with my colleagues,” explains Bintou Kaira, a senior analytics and insights integration advisor at Nutrien. “I left the gala feeling energized and hopeful for the communities where we live and work.”
