Prioritizing SIF prevention in Latin America

Since 2021, the SHE team in Latin America has been delivering on significant funding and training commitments to help prevent serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) across all locations.

Nearly USD$2 million per year has been invested in SIF prevention measures at Nutrien’s facilities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. Some of the upgrades include work at height protections; stair replacements and handrail additions; the installation of safety sensors in equipment for rotating parts protection; electrical safety; and the replacement of critical metal structures.

In addition, more than 12,000 hours of safety training has been carried out each year, specifically focused on life-saving practices.

“This commitment to SIF prevention reinforces Nutrien’s Culture of Care and helps ensure that our employees go home safe, every day,” says Fabiane Romeiro, Senior Manager, SHE Latin America. “We continue to work together and look for solutions to make our work safer.”
